The former CIA and NSA employee, Edward Snowden musical collaboration with Jean-Michel Jarre. The partnership between Jarre and Snowden is a natural result of an interview they held in Moscow, where Snowden currently lives under political asylum following his revelation of state secrets in 2013.
The track, Salida, is featured on the French artist’s new album, Electronica Volume II: The Heart of Noise. The American thus joins an impressive list of 30 collaborators on Jarre’s new project, which also includes Pet Shop Boys, The Orb, and Laurie Anderson.
«One of the recurring themes of the album is our ambiguous relationship with technology,» the French artist commented. «On one hand, we have the world in our pockets, but on the other the world continues to spy on us constantly. Snowden has become a modern hero, not just for saying ‘enough’, but for alerting us to the dangers that come with the use and abuse of technology. Our future needs more brave people like him,» Jarre asserted.

The French producer, musician, and composer Jean-Michel Jarre, a legend of popular electronic music and a pioneer of synthesizers since his groundbreaking debut album Oxygène, has chosen Snar Barcelona for his return to the stage. If his past live shows were spectacular, his performance at Snar during the night promises to be an absolutely unique experience.
Jean-Michel Jarre’s successful career spans four decades. Albums like Oxygène and Equinoxe, for example, are considered foundational works of primordial electronic music, often the first references of the genre in many households and a source of inspiration for subsequent generations of electronic producers and musicians.
Yet perhaps his greatest contribution to electronic music has been his impressive concerts, always conceived as sensory and technological experiences of enormous scale designed for large audiences; up to a million people at shows in Paris and Houston, and three and a half million spectators in Moscow, a figure that means a world record acknowledged by the Guinness Book.
It can be confidently stated that, 30 years ago, Jarre was the first to create the multimedia concert experience as we know it today, mapping buildings in cities around the world before anyone else, lighting up the sky with projections and pyrotechnics, providing the audience with total immersion in both sound and image, which today is the aspiration of any international festival.
